‘Last week, our Year 5/6 students were privileged to welcome back Murrundindi, the Ngurungaeta of the Wurundjeri people. The students were captivated as he shared creation stories, demonstrated the calming sounds of the didgeridoo, introduced them to his family lineage dating back to 1796, and guided them in reconnecting with the land and its native flora. A particularly memorable moment was collecting leaves from the Banksia tree—a native Australian flora whose leaves produce a natural, soapy lather, traditionally used by Indigenous Australians. It was a truly meaningful way to learn from and honour Indigenous knowledge.’
