Facilities
Set on four hectares, Croydon Primary School offers enviable space and tree filled grounds.
The newly refurbished sport facilities include 4 basketball courts with new asphalt and basketball/netball towers. The line marking provides for tennis, rounders, soccer and volleyball as well as bike education markings. All of this is protected with our Covered Outdoor Learning Area. The canopy provides protection from rain and keeps the area incredibly cool in summer. This exceptional addition allows us to continue Physical Education classes in space and comfort.
Our play areas provide for active and passive pass times. Students climb all over the 5 metre rope tower gaining confidence and strength. The Junior playground has recently been doubled in size to provide more monkey bars and slides. The Senior adventure playground adds challenge through a rock climbing wall and flying fox.
Two sand pits, cubby house and lunchtime dress ups allow all students to develop lasting relationships.
The learning facilities include the new purpose built main building. The new building houses the Year 3 – 6 students with large double classrooms optimising team teaching and collaboration. Varied height furniture and adaptable seating adds to the flexibility of the space.
Our new library has direct access from both classroom spaces to allow for independent research, break out groups and small group teaching. The library space invites students to read, play chess or lego and relax on the deck at lunchtime. It has been created as a multi-function space with a radio station, green screen filming and 3 D printers.
The P-2 classes are situated in the Junior School BER building, which incorporates six classrooms and two large open spaces to cater for 21st century education. The classrooms have additional ‘flow out spaces’ and an outdoor learning area to accommodate independent and group activities.
Prep Area
Our prep area has a large open space ideal for developmental play. When our students first start school they are welcomed to the play space first thing in the morning, to make friends, share and cooperate. Their play tasks are linked to specific skills including, fine motor problem solving and cooperation.
The outdoor area includes their own vegetable garden. The kitchenette space provides for art and cooking.
The Prep classrooms are bright and spacious allowing for whole class, small group and individual teaching.
Year 1 – 2 Area
At the other end of our BER Junior school is the Year 1 /2 Area. They also have a large play area and break out space. The students are able to cook at the kitchenette and work in whole class, small group and individual settings.
Specialist Literacy intervention is also provided here.
Senior Building
Within the new main building are the Year 3 -6 students.
Large, purpose designed classrooms support small group work, collaborative projects and individual research. Both the year 3 /4 and 5 /6 classrooms have direct access to our library, allowing for small groups and individual research.
Library
Our new Library space provides a bright and comfortable area for our students to develop and share a love of reading. All classes have a dedicated library class each week. The library is open each lunchtime for students to relax, play chess, colour and read. The sunny deck is a wonderful place to sit on a cushion with friends.
It also contains a student operated radio station and green screen filming.
Outdoor Play Area
Recently the school has upgraded all the outdoor play areas. Students now climb on a 5 metre rope climber and play on the expanded junior playground, with more monkey bars and slides.
The asphalt area has been resurfaced and marks and boasts new basketball/ netball towers and tennis courts.
The back two courts are covered with a magnificent Covered outdoor learning area. It is cool in summer and dry in winter, protected from the sun and the rain. Physical education classes take full benefit of the new space.
