Our Year 1/2 students recently ventured into the city on an excursion to IMAX and the Melbourne Museum as part of our Integrated Unit on Minibeasts. They had a wonderful day exploring the Museum exhibits, including ‘Bugs Alive’ and ‘Dinosaur Walk.’ The students enjoyed learning about a famous race horse called Phar Lap, but the highlight was viewing ‘Bugs Mighty Micro Monsters 3D.’ During this film they were shrunk down and stepped into the hidden world of super-powered bugs! They saw beetles that could shoot chemical fire and lift enormous weights, even a bug that could transform itself into another creature entirely!  The 3D detail created the feeling that you could almost reach out and touch the minibeasts. Students came away from the excursion feeling amazed and full of wonder at the amazing species that walk (or fly!) on our planet.
